Counterpoint with trace

Nana Tokatli was born in 1946 in Athens. She studied painting at the A.S.K.T. with Nikos Nikolaou and Giorgos Mavroidis and set design with V. Vassiliadis (graduated in 1976). She has exhibited her work in a series of solo exhibitions, mainly in Athens, and has also participated in group exhibitions. She has also been involved in book illustration. In her early works, figurative elements coexisted with elements of abstraction, depicting trees, landscapes, mountains and tree trunks, which she rendered with a lyrical expressionistic mood and schematization. In the late 1990s, he produced a series of works in which the element of geometricity dominates, and which he composed with cheap materials that evoke painting without using it.
