Babis Venetopoulos was born in 1973 in Thessaloniki. Initially he studied art and design in Manchester, England (1992-1993), decoration in Thessaloniki (1993-1995) and studied at the Department of Visual and Applied Arts of the School of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki under the tutelage of G. Fokas (1996-2002). Awarded in international competitions, he is a founding member of a company that deals with audiovisual productions for cinema, television and internet. His research interests include digital video, 3D modeling and animation, interactive installations, 3D printing, stereoscopic video, virtual and augmented reality, among others. The artist's raw material and main theme is the experience of mental pain and physical deformation combined with the deterioration caused by time. At the same time, he uses new media to represent physical and organic elements in order to evoke illusions and metaphors, or to interactively test the participation of the observer in the creation of new images through the use of mainly the computer. He has participated with his works in many group exhibitions, new media festivals.
