Xenophon Bitsikas was born in 1963 in Ioannina. He studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts with D. Kokkinidis and Marina Lambraki-Plaka (1988-1994). With a scholarship from the I.K.Y. he completed postgraduate and doctoral studies at the Esquela Superior de Bellas Artes of the Universidad Complutense of Madrid (1994-2000), while he was awarded a scholarship from the I. He is a professor at the Department of Plastic Arts and Art Sciences of the University of Ioannina and served as Dean of the School of Fine Arts of the University of Ioannina. His research interests are related to issues of the structure of space and the mechanisms of its definition, and to issues related to representation and new media. His articles have been published in proceedings of international conferences, in Greek and foreign publications, and he collaborates in research with Greek and European universities. He has been awarded in national and international painting competitions and has presented his work in solo and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. He lives and works in Greece.
