Μιχάλης ΜανουσάκηςMichalis Manousakis was born in 1953 in Chania, Crete. He studied painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts (1979-1984) under the tutelage of Demosthenes Kokkinidis. Since 1987 he taught painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts and in 2014 he was elected full professor. In 1994 he was awarded, together with M. Spiliopoulos, A. Michaelides, V. Tsalamata and E. Sakayan, with the award for the best National Pavilion at the Alexandria Biennale. His predominantly anthropocentric work explores in the first phase of his work the relationship between the human form and the surrounding space, which can be both real and imaginary, often creating a dreamlike atmosphere. Gradually the surrounding atmosphere becomes monochromatic without additional elements and the emphasis is placed on the human figure, which becomes the central element of the composition.
