Manolis Giannadakis, originally from Vrahasi, Lassithi, was born in 1954 in Athens. During the period 1973-1975 he studied graphic arts at the Athens Technological Institute (Doxiadis School) and then engraving with K. Grammatopoulos at the A.S.K.T. (1975-1980) as well as typography and book art under the guidance of G. Yannakis. (1978-1981), and printmaking and graphic design at G. Papadakis (1978-1981). From 1986 to 1997 he taught Drawing at the Department of Visual and Applied Arts of the School of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, while from 1997 until his retirement he taught printmaking. A wide range of technical, formal, conceptual and aesthetic pursuits make up his artistic work, which is at the same time a product of contemporary dialectical and critical thinking. He presented his work for the first time in a solo exhibition at the Athens Art Gallery in 1984 and has participated in group exhibitions in museums, galleries, cultural institutions, private institutions as well as in international Biennales/Triennales of Printmaking both at home and abroad. She lives in Thessaloniki.
