Αλέξανδρος ΣιμόπουλοςAlex Simopoulos was born in 1977 in Thessaloniki. He studied painting at the Department of Visual and Applied Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1996-2001) with T. Makri, while for a limited period of time he attended courses in Utrecht, the Netherlands. In 2002-2003 she studied at the Wimbledon School of Art in London on a scholarship. His work, mainly painted collages, is composed through details of cut paper depicting technological and mechanical components forming forms and objects, in combination with painting or drawing. His iconography is predominantly anthropocentric and often draws on the world of music and advertising. The main preoccupation that runs through his work to date is the relationship between modern man and technology, consumerism and communication. With an emphasis on the latter, he also uses other media such as photography, music, etc.
