Michel Francois was born in 1956 in Saint-Trond, Belgium. He studied at the École de Recherche Graphique in Brussels. A conceptual artist through a variety of media including installation, video, sculpture and photography, he often attempts to explore through their combination how they are connected to create a larger idea. Through different techniques and materials he comments on the relationships and contradictions we face in our public and private lives. From an early age he exhibited his work in Europe, the US, Mexico, Brazil and Japan. He participated in numerous group exhibitions and international events, including Documenta 9 in Kassel (1992), the 22nd Sao Paulo Biennial (1994), the 48th Venice Biennial (1999), where he represented Belgium together with Ann Veronica Janssens, the Havana Biennial (2015), etc. She lives and works between Brussels and Paris.
