Marc Charpentier was born in 1955 in Chartres, France. He studied prehistoric archaeology methodology at the École des Hautes Etudes at the School of Social Sciences, Paris. Since 1977 he has lived and worked in Athens, signing with the MCPM logo. During his first years in Greece he made his living as a hagiographer, but his acquaintance with Tsarouchis and the climate and atmosphere of Athens pushed him towards the fine arts. He began by taking photographs, creating first manipulated images and then digital ones, and gradually moved on to painting, sculptural compositions and installations, digital art with photography and video. He often manipulates and transforms any kind of surface, from the flatness of his canvas to the multi-dimensionality of the objects he constructs, creating layered compositions.
