Delos

Jörg Schmeisser was born in 1942 in Stolp, Germany. He studied printmaking at the Hamburg Fine Arts Academy in Germany (1962-1967) and then at the Kyoto Fine Arts Academy (1969-1972). He took part in archaeological excavations in Israel and Greece and travelled extensively in Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, USA, Australia, etc. He taught at the Kyoto Design Institute (1969-1971), the Hamburg School of Fine Arts (1972-1975) and in the years 1978-1997 he worked as head of the Department of Printmaking at the University of Canberra. His work was honoured with awards and distinctions. He died in 2012 in Canberra.
