Ελένη ΠόταγαEleni Potaga was born in 1933 in Athens. She studied sculpture and painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts (1951-1952), in the workshops of Th. Athens. Moralis, respectively, at the Académie Julian in Paris (1952-1953) and then in England at King's College School of Art, Newcastle, University of Durham (1953-1957). Her early works are sculptures, primarily in marble or bronze. Gradually, however, these two materials gave way to brass, aluminium and Plexiglas. Her forms move within the framework of geometric abstraction, and circles, spheres, pyramids, curves and oval shapes predominate. These forms, combined with the light, colour, water, Plexiglas and aluminium she uses, create compositions, installations and environments that express her inner visions while enabling the viewer to have a personal experience and experience. She has exhibited her work in solo and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad, while her works adorn public and private collections.
