Asadour Baharian was born in Athens in 1924. Initially, he studied under Othonas Pervolarakis and later he studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts, where his teachers were Um. Argyro and D. Biskinis. From 1945 to 1960, he was a political prisoner in various prisons, where he painted a variety of artworks depicting the prisoners and their daily life, characterized by his vibrant use of colour.
During the period from 1961 to 1967, he taught graphic applications at the Vakalo School. During this time, he turned to watercolour painting and created a large series of landscapes exuding a lyrical atmosphere. In 1969, within the core of the dictatorship's government, he founded the Artistic and Intellectual Center "Ora," which operated until 1992. Simultaneously, the social and political conditions of the era brought back memories of his own period of imprisonment, and he created works dominated by the cry of freedom deprivation.
