Γενεσιουργία

Οι συνθέσεις του Κυριάκου Καμπαδάκη έχουν, πολλές φορές, δραματικό περιεχόμενο. Στη Γενεσιουργία, η φτερωτή ανδρική μορφή προβάλει ελεύθερη και ενεργητική στο χώρο, απαλλαγμένη από νατουραλιστικές λεπτομέρειες, μέσα από ένα παιχνίδι αντιθέσεων και ισορροπιών, όπου η στατικότητα και η κίνηση, η πυκνότητα και η αφαίρεση της ύλης, καθώς και οι έννοιες της πτώσης και της ανάτασης, συνδυάζονται οργανικά.

Kyriakos Kabadakis was born in 1938 in Drama, but grew up in Thessaloniki. He studied sculpture and engraving at the Staatliche Hochschule für bildende Kunst in Berlin (1961-1966), where he lived and worked until 1975, the year he returned to Greece and settled permanently in Thessaloniki.
Influenced by German expressionism, he created a rich body of work, mainly sculptures and prints. Respect for the nature of the materials he uses (wood, bronze and, more rarely, marble and stone), an excellent knowledge of their properties and expressive potential, a robust technique, an exploration of the limits of form and an emphasis on purely plastic values are key characteristics of his work, the exclusive subject of which is man.
