Μιλτιάδης ΠεταλάςMiltiadis Petalas was born in 1977 in Athens. He studied painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts in the studio of Rena Papaspyrou, where he graduated with honours in 2003 and returned in 2005 to continue his studies in the printmaking studio with Michalis Arfaras and Yannis Goorzis (ref. 2011). In 2009 he was awarded a commendation at the 13th International Biennial of Microengraving and the Exlibris Competition at the Ostrow Wielkopolshi Museum in Poland, in 2010 he received a distinction at the 33rd International Exlibris Competition in Istanbul and in 2018 he won the First Prize in the International Black and White Competition in the USA. Since 2020 he has been teaching at the 1st Engraving Workshop at the A.S.K.T. A painter and engraver, his dual capacity is distinguished as his engravings, which are superior in their artistic production, are not devoid of their painterly character. He does not hesitate to experiment with new techniques, while he has a habit of combining the media he uses. Influences from Gothic art, the Early Renaissance, as well as from the prints of Albrecht Dürrée and Hieronymus Bosch are evident in his works. He has presented his work in solo exhibitions in Greece and has taken part in numerous group exhibitions in Greece and abroad, in international competitions and engraving competitions. He lives and works in Athens.
