Tilemachos Kanthos was born in Alona, Cyprus in 1910. He studied painting and printmaking at the A.S.K.T. (1929-1932 and 1934-1939 respectively) with his teachers O. Argyros, D. Bishkinis, S. Vikatos, K. Parthenis and G. K. Vitis, K. Vitis, K. Vitis, K. Vitis, C. Kefallinos. Simultaneously with his studies, he was employed in the Aspiotis-ELKA graphic arts workshop in Corfu and Athens, while he also collaborated with Kefallinos for the publication of the album "The Peacock". During World War II he settled in Cyprus, where he taught as a technical teacher at the Famagusta Gymnasium (1942-1944) and at the Pancyprian Gymnasium (1950-1969). Alongside his painting and printmaking work, he was involved in the set and costume design of dozens of performances of the Cypriot theatre, and was also a member of the Educational Service Committee of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus. He exhibited his work in solo exhibitions mainly in Nicosia and Athens, while he also participated in group exhibitions in Cyprus, Greece and in 1984 he represented Cyprus at the Alexandria Biennale. He died in 1993 in Nicosia.
