Popi Krouska-Zervopoulou was born in 1947. She studied economics at the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki, architecture at the Polytechnic School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (b. 1975), as well as freelance studies in ceramics. For a decade he worked as an architect (1975-1985), while at the same time he was systematically involved in ceramics, creating surfaces from sections of fired and glazed clay with a purely geometric, artistic approach. Her architectural background is reflected in the surfaces of rhythmically repeated structural units she designs and executes, while Constructivist influences can be found in both her industrial objects and sculptures, as well as in her furniture projects. In the 2000s her interest turned to digital technology and she incorporated video and digitally manipulated images into her work, without abandoning her three-dimensional works. Founder of the visual arts space "Popi K." initially and then "Theme", she curated a series of exhibitions, some of which she even participated in. She has also participated in group exhibitions, including the International Biennale of Sculpture (Skironioioio Center Kifissia, Athens 1992), the exhibition Fyrogias (Sifnos, 1999, 2000) -which she organized for the first time herself-, the Collection of the Center for Contemporary Visual Creation of Rethymnon (Rethymnon 2000), etc. She lives and works in Athens.
