Petros (Papavasiliou) was born in 1928 in Athens. He studied painting and engraving at the School of Fine Arts in Athens under the tutelage of Yannis Moralis and G. He then studied graphic arts at the Istituto Statale die Belle Arti in Urbino and at the Istituto Rizzoli delle Arti Graphiche in Milan on an I.K.Y. scholarship (1949-1955). In Milan he founded and was director of the 'Graphic Olympia' publications (1960-1976). He has been awarded prizes at the international competitions of the Biennale of Alexandria (1959), the 3rd Biennale del Deporte en las Bellas Artes in Barcelona (1971), the 3rd Biennale Europea di Monaco in Monte Carlo (1974), the Biennale d'Arte in La Spezia (1988) and has been awarded the Medal of Art by the U.N.E.S.C.O. (1977) and the City of La Spezia (1981). He died in Milan in 2014.
