Panos Kokkinias was born in 1965 in Athens. He completed his undergraduate studies at the School of Visual Arts in New York (b. 1993), his postgraduate studies at the Yale School of Art in New Haven (1996) and in 2009 he received a PhD from the School of Art at the University of Derby with scholarships from the Yale School of Art, the Onassis Foundation and the I.K.Y. Since 1993, he has exhibited his work regularly in Greece and abroad in solo and group exhibitions in Paris, Brussels, Rome, Madrid, Munich, Kassel, New York, Singapore, Beijing, New York, etc. In his photographic work, which is generally staged, he explores man's relationship with the world and the self, the manifestations of this existential question in today's reality and the way in which they can be recorded through photographic means. It focuses at times on the breaking of man's relationship with his origin, nature, and at other times on his perplexity to understand his origin and identity within his own creation, the city. He is Associate Professor of Photography and Director of the Photography Laboratory of the Department of Printmaking at the School of Fine Arts.
