Xanthippos Vyssios was born in 1947 in Florina, grew up in Melbourne and in 1968 he returned to Greece and settled in Thessaloniki, where he studied physics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.Initially a self-taught artist, he used his scientific knowledge to create photographic drawings, holograms and black and white pencil drawings, a kind of ideograms. Wanting to immerse himself in the technique of holography, he went to London, where he studied at the Richmond Holographic Studio (1985) and attended courses at Dark Room Eight (1988) and the Royal College of Art (1990-1992). In 1988 he founded his holographic studio in Thessaloniki, which he maintained for many years. He presented his photograms and holograms in Athens, Thessaloniki and Paris, holding solo exhibitions and participating in group exhibitions in Greece and abroad.
