Lena Athanasopoulou was born in 1979 in Thessaloniki. She is a visual artist and director. She studied at Chelsea College of Art, The London Institute (BTEC Foundation in Fine Art, 1997-1998), continued her studies at the Department of Visual Arts (BA Fine Art & Art History, 1998-2001) and at the Department of Media and Communication (MA Image and Communication, 2002-2003) at Goldsmiths College, University of London. In 2001 she took part in the Pandemonium Biennial of Moving Image in London and in 2015 she participated in the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival with the film "HAIRE AND DRINK EY". In 2009-2013 she taught art and technology, new media and photography at the Department of Visual Arts, University of Western Macedonia. In 2015 she also held an artist residency at ZK/U in Berlin. She has held three solo exhibitions in Athens and Thessaloniki, while she has participated in dozens of group exhibitions in Greece and abroad, in international events such as the 1st Biennale of Lagos, the 1st Thessaloniki Biennale, the XV Biennale de la Mediterranee Symbiosis etc. She lives and works in Thessaloniki.
