Κώστας ΚουλεντιανόςCostas Coulentianos was born in 1918 in Athens. During the period 1936-1939 he studied sculpture at the Athens School of Fine Arts and in 1945 he went to Paris on a scholarship from the French government to study at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière. His settlement in Paris marked his introduction to the sculptor H. Laurens and his gradual departure from academic forms, as he moved to greater schematization of forms, which he enriched with large openings, emphasizing the relationship between the void and the full. The main subject of his work was the human form, especially the female form. He gradually moved to an increasingly abstract framework, giving weight to geometric structures that balance and convey a sense of movement. He held more than thirty exhibitions in art galleries around the world and participated in important group exhibitions and international events, representing Greece in the Biennale of Antwerp (1953), Sao Paulo (1955), Venice (1964), Santiago (1993), etc. He died in 1995 in Arles.
