Zafos Xagoraris was born in Athens in 1963. He studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on a scholarship from the Alexander S. Onassis Foundation. He continued with a PhD thesis at the Department of Architecture of the National Technical University of Athens. His work includes sculptural structures, installations, environments, and since the 1990s he has been working on the idea of changing spaces, in which the viewer is invited to wander and chart a path through space. He has presented his work in a series of solo exhibitions, the first at the Epikentro in Patras in 1992 and participated in group exhibitions. He is professor at the Athens School of Fine Arts, director of the H' Painting Workshop, and has taught at the University of Patras and the University of Sassari. He lives and works in Athens.
