Andreas Vourloumis was born in 1910 in Patras. At an early age he moved with his family to Athens, where he studied chemistry at the University of Athens. He went to Paris to continue his studies, but turned to art and studied painting and printmaking at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris (1934-1935). On his return to Greece he was an active member of the 'Armos' group. He presented his work in solo exhibitions in Greece as well as in group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. In 1990 a first retrospective exhibition of his work was held at the National Gallery and in 1999 at the Benaki Museum. The themes of his works - portraits, still lifes, landscape paintings, interiors - derive from the world around him. Oil and watercolour paintings dominate his artistic activity, as well as new techniques of his own invention that were linked to the subject of his studies. He died in 1999 in Athens.
