Maria Kompatsiari was born in 1952 in Kolindros, Pieria. She studied at the School of Pharmacy at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and then studied drawing and colour in a preparatory workshop. She also studied engraving and lithography at the "Ilios" Center for Engraving in Thessaloniki. Her multifaceted work gradually evolved, starting from her early pictorial compositions, which were primarily representational, and then transitioning into a personal abstract style. Later on, she ventured into three-dimensional art, creating luminous boxes and installations. She has exhibited her work in solo exhibitions in Greece and abroad, and her pieces are part of private collections, public collections, and museums.
