Aleksandr Rodchenko was born in 1891 in St. Petersburg and studied at the Kazan School of Fine Arts from 1910 to 1914. After graduating, he moved to Moscow and attended courses at the Stroganov Art and Technical Institute. His acquaintance with Malevich and Suprematism played a crucial role in his development as an artist. In the late 1910s, he formulated his theory of linearism and positioned the line as the basis for every graphic design, the shape of composition, and the structure of three-dimensional construction. He was a member of the "Zhivskulparkh" and "Constructivists" groups and co-founded the Institute of Artistic Education (INXOYK). He taught at the Higher Technical Artistic Workshops of Moscow (VKhUTEMAS) and the Higher State Artistic-Technical Institute (VKHUTEIN). Rodchenko was involved in photography, stage design, typography and graphic arts. He collaborated with Vladimir Mayakovsky the field of advertising for the magazines LEF and Novyi-LEF. Additionally, he created a series of drawings for the magazine "The Construction of the USSR." He passed away in Moscow in 1956.
