Sergios Stamos was born in 1964 in Kranea, Grevena. During the period 1982-1984, he studied at the Zosimaea Pedagogical Academy, and later at the School of Fine Arts in Thessaloniki (1984-1989), with instructors including V. Dimitreas and T. Makri. His early works, from which the human figure is completely absent, are dominated by drawing and landscape compositions, which he renders in a vertical orientation. Without abandoning his painting compositions, in the 2000s, he introduced wall installations into his work, incorporating writing and other materials such as neon, fluorescent lamps, aluminum, and Plexiglas. During the 2010s to the present, influenced by pressing contemporary socio-political issues, he presents paintings and sculptural installations based on the idea of reconstruction, which exude an aura of optimism through the devastating effects of war and social unrest.
