Yiannis Adamakos was born in 1952 in Pyrgos, Ilia. He studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts (ASFA) from 1973 to 1978, with teachers D. Mytaras, G. Mavroidis, and P. Tetsis. In 1978, he moved to Paris and continued his studies there until 1981.
His painting revolves around three fundamental axes: space, figure, and light. These three elements form relationships that define his artistic work. These relationships are repeated and reexamined throughout his artistic career. The characteristics that distinguish most of his artworks include an expressionistic quality, the interplay of light and dark areas, and subtle colour gradients.
In addition to his artistic work, he taught drawing and colour at Art Workshops and the Vakalo School. He has exhibited his work in solo and group exhibitions both in Greece and abroad.
