Charioteer

Ο καλλιτέχνης στην ενότητα έργων του που παρουσιάστηκαν στην 4η Μπιενάλε Σύγχρονης Τέχνης Θεσσαλονίκης το 2013, ανάμεσά τους και το Charioteer, επιδιώκει μέσα από τα απομεινάρια της παλιας γνώσης να ξαναφτιάξει ένα όλον. Αποτυπώνει στιγμιότυπα της σημερινής καθημερινότητας που συναντά κανείς παντού στον κόσμο, όπως η νεκρή φύση με τη λεκάνη τουαλέτας, αντιπαραβάλοντάς τα με στοιχεία από το corpus universalis της πολιτισμικής παρακαταθήκης.

Vassilis Zografos was born in 1965 in Mytilene. He studied at the School of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1987-1992) and then completed his postgraduate studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Groningen, the Netherlands (1993-1995) as a scholarship holder of the Dutch State and the Lillian Voudouris Foundation. In 2002 he completed the Interdepartmental Master's Programme of the Faculty of Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, specialising in the Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art. He taught drawing and painting as a visiting professor at the Ecole Regionale de Beaux Arts de St. Etienne (2002-2007), at the Department of Visual and Applied Arts of the School of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki as a member of the Special Teaching Staff and since 2022 as Assistant Professor in the same department. He has presented his work in numerous solo exhibitions in Greece and abroad and has participated in international group exhibitions: the National Museum of Contemporary Art EMST, Athens (2018), the National Museum of China, Beijing (2017), SESC Belenzinho, São Paulo (2017), and MuCEM in Marseille (2014) as well as in the 1st and 4th Thessaloniki Biennale of Contemporary Art (2007 and 2013).
