Elli Chrysidou was born in 1956 in Kilkis, Greece. She studied painting at the École des Beaux-Arts in Nancy, France, from 1975 to 1980. She served as a drawing professor at the Athens School of Fine Arts (AKTO) from 2005 to 2013 and as an artistic director at the Visual Arts Workshop of the Municipality of Pavlos Melas from 1998 to 2014. She has been involved in illustrating children's books and scenography, and she has received awards for her participation in competitions.
In the early 1980s, her paintings were characterized by strong design and colour intensity, elements that she maintained throughout her artistic career. Her early paintings show influences of abstraction and expressionism, evident in her painting compositions. As her artistic journey progressed, she explored multi-dimensional paintings, which she described as having a monumental dimension. Later on, she incorporated foreign elements as the primary material in her paintings.
In her most recent paintings, she attempts to revisit childhood memories, the years of innocence, through personal experiences and memories.
