Michalis Papadakis was born in 1944 in Athens. He attended sculpture classes at the age of 12 at the encouragement of M. Tombros in the studio and then passed the entrance exams to the A.S.K.T. as an exceptional talent. He studied in the period 1958-1962 in the workshops of M. Tombros and Yannis Pappas and then pursued postgraduate studies at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris under César. During the dictatorship, he developed organized anti-dictatorial political activity and was in Paris and London. He was primarily involved in sculpture and became quite interested in the human form and its performance. Furthermore, he produced works characterized in their structure by strict geometry and constructivist values as well as works of micro-sculpture. His exhibition activity was sparse, participating mainly in group exhibitions and in symposia and conferences of the E.E.T.E., of which he was a member of the board and served as president. He died in 2020.
