Maria Mylona-Kyriakidi was born in 1942 in Athens. She studied at the Vakalo School with P. Tetsis (1962-1965). Daughter of the sculptor Alex Mylonas and sister of the visual artist Eleni Mylonas, she formed her own personal artistic language in the artistic environment she grew up in, which is expressed through a wide range of different techniques. The themes of the works include self-portraits, still lifes, representations of microorganisms in nature, portraits and hand studies, while figurative compositions are often abandoned and replaced by other more abstract ones. She has presented her work in solo exhibitions in Greece and has participated in many group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. She died in Athens in 2010.
