The Wall
Λάζαρος ΜαράβαςHe was born in 1964 in Larissa. He studied painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts (1985-1990) with N. Kessanlis, and set design with V. Vassiliadis. In 1988 he worked in the painting workshops of the University of Santa Cruz, California, and then completed his thesis at California State University. His visual interest was attracted early on to used, worn materials, which he artistically transformed into recognizable objects of everyday life. With a playful attitude and frequent reference to the car, the concept of travel and children's toys, his works highlight the communicative role of art in life. In his recent series of works "Stigma of Life" he uses perforated metal structures and surfaces of black paint, which he illuminates with light, where light becomes a source of life as it "invites" people close to it, but also indicates human existence. He presented his work for the first time in a solo exhibition at Desmos Art Gallery, followed by a series of solo exhibitions in Athens and Thessaloniki and group exhibitions. He lives and works in Larissa.
