Enduring the breath of memory
Γιώργος ΤσεριώνηςGiorgos Tserionis was born in Athens in 1967. He studied graphic arts at the Vakalo School (1988-1991), for one year he took printmaking classes with Pino Pandolfini and Dimitra Siatteri and in 1991-1995 he attended painting, sculpture and art history classes at the Art and Philosophy Group with Rubina Sarelakou, Kyriakos Rokos and Yannis Papaioannou. She specialized in ceramics at the Iridanos School with teachers Menandros Papadopoulos and Nikos Sklavenitis. Alongside his artistic work, he has been extensively involved in teaching, teaching free drawing at the Vakalo School (1998-1999), free drawing and jewellery design at the Mokume School (2011-2016) and ceramics at the KETHEA's "Diavasi" programme (2006-present). He is a founding member of the Provo Principles group. His painting and printmaking work, mostly anthropocentric, falls within the realm of figurative art, and also includes installations in space, as well as videos. Drawing on memories from lived and internalized everyday life, as well as from an imaginary, almost fictional world, he synthesizes images with simple design lines, characterized by narrative and symbolism. He has presented his work in solo exhibitions in various cities in Greece (Athens, Thessaloniki, Patras, Elefsina), while he has also participated in dozens of domestic and international group exhibitions: Art Mart (Kunstlerhaus, Vienna 2007), 2nd Athens Biennale of Contemporary Art Heaven (Athens 2009), Boiling Point (Kunstlerhaus, Vienna 2012), 7th Berlin Biennale of Contemporary Art (Berlin, 2012), 7th Beijing Biennale of Contemporary Art (National Museum of Arts of China, Beijing 2017), Vanitas: Stories from the Past (MOMus Museum of Contemporary Art, Thessaloniki 2023), etc.
