Boy with rooster

Natalia Sergeevna Goncharova was born in 1881 in the Landizino province of Tula. She studied sculpture at the School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in Moscow (1900-1904), where she met her future partner Mikhail Larionov. In 1906, she participated in the Russian section of the Autumn Salon in Paris and in the following years, she took part in numerous exhibitions.
She was involved in book illustration and in 1913, she directed, along with Larionov, and acted in the futurist film "Drama at the Futurist Cabaret No. 13". She presented her artwork in solo exhibitions as well as group exhibitions with her husband. In 1914, she began collaborating with Diaghilev, designing sets and the following year, they moved to Lausanne following his invitation. They later settled in Paris, where she lived until her death in 1962.
