Diohandi was born in Athens in 1945. She received her first painting lessons from Panos Sarafianos, attended the workshop of Yiannis Moralis at the Athens School of Fine Arts for a year, and then, in 1965, she moved to Rome, where she studied painting and engraving at the Accademia di Belle Arti. In the period of 1973-1974, she took classes in graphic arts, costume design and architecture at the Polytechnic of Central London.
Her early artworks were within the framework of abstraction. She adopted a minimal geometric language and disciplined colour relationships. Soon, she turned to three-dimensional constructions, installations and environments. As she was interested in exploring the multiple correlations between the concepts of space-time, she always meticulously designed her artworks according to the space they were intended for. Her choice of materials and the deliberate use of tonal gradients, shadows, and light gave a poetic dimension to the visual result.
She exhibited her artwork in solo and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad and participated in significant international organisations such as the 7th Paris Biennale (1971), the 12th São Paulo Biennale (1973), and in most international Print Biennials (for several years, Ljubljana, Krakow, Fredrikstad in Norway, Tokyo, etc.). In 2011, she represented Greece at the 54th Venice Biennale with her installation "Beyond Reform". In the same year, AICA Hellas honored her with the First Prize for her work "Eleusis 2010," which she presented as part of the Aeschylean celebrations in 2010.
