Eugenia Apostolou was born in 1954 in Sudan to Greek parents and settled in Greece in 1960. She studied at the Central School of Art and Design (1974-1978) and the Royal College of Art in London (1979-1982).
In her early artworks, the dominant visual element was the enlarged forms of familiar objects, but over time, her painting gradually moved towards abstraction, focusing on the colour treatment of surfaces. She primarily highlights the expressive qualities of colour as a multidimensional artistic element. In her later installations, she redefines the dynamics of space, activating the relationships between the artwork and the viewer.
