Suaire
Marios Prassinos was born in 1916 in Constantinople (Istanbul). Due to the events of 1922, his family sought refuge in Paris, where he later studied at the École des Langues Orientales, while at the same time attending classes for a short time at the studio of C. Serveau. Living in the climate of French Surrealism, his artistic work shows clear influences as he transforms aesthetic reality. He experimented with the dripping technique, using overlapping lines and ink stains on paper to convey the impression of an image. This gestural technique occupies a special place in his body of work and is found in a significant portion of his art.
He has also worked as an illustrator of books, directed many theatre productions and has also written extensively. His work was showcased in solo and group exhibitions primarily in Paris and major European cities. He received several titles and awards, including Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres (1961), Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur (1966) and Officier des Arts et des Lettres (1981).
Marios Prassinos passed away in 1985 in Saint-Rémy.
